In every marathon I've run (6) somewhere between mile 15 and mile 19 the cramps have hit me and killed my pace. I've tried hydration and electrlytes to the point of saturation. I've tried 500 plus mile training routines with 4 20 plus mile runs. And neither helps me avoid cramping in my calves, hamstings, quads and achilies.
So, I'm going to try running a marathon and treat it as a long training run. I'm going to reduce my pace by 1 to 1 1/2 minutes per mile and see if a slower first 2/3 will let me keep the pace in that final 1/3.
I'm curious if anyone has experince with any of this or any relevant thoughts...
